General Manager David Obirek will be leaving the team effective May 01, 2016.
Obirek, who ran the day to day operations of the club, assumed the GM role in August 2014 . Obirek spent the past two seasons committed to reconnecting the team to the community and building positive relations with community stakeholders.
In addition to the day to day responsibilities, Obirek spent a considerable amount of time improving the teams game day and off-ice operations.
“I enjoyed the past two years with the team however we just weren’t able to settle on a salary package going forward. There is a significant amount of time and commitment required in a position like this and the compensation needs to be fair and reasonable” said David Obirek
This was Obirek’s second tenure with the team after previously serving as the clubs Public Relations Manager for two years(2010-2012).
“As hectic as it was for me carrying the brunt of the teams day-to-day operational load, I was fortunate enough to have tremendous support from a very dedicated group of coaches, support staff, game day volunteers and volunteer Marketing Manager Don Gilman helping in the teams front office.” said Obirek
The team’s Executive have yet to name a replacement for Obirek and is currently working on securing the coaching staff and other team personnel for the upcoming 2016-2017 season.
