The Selkirk Steelers announce that defenceman Paul Sohor has accepted a scholarship to York University of the Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) beginning this upcoming 2012-2012 season.
Sohor started his junior hockey career with the Steelers in 2007-2008 before moving on to the Western Hockey League(WHL) for 3 seasons where he played for the Everett Silvertips and the Tri-City Americans. Sohor returned to the Steelers for the 2011-2012 for his last year of junior hockey where he played in 50 games, scoring 11 goals with 21 assists for 32 points.
”I am extremely excited for this opportunity. Committing to York University is a new step in my academic and playing career. I can’t thank the Steelers enough for what they did for me my last year of junior hockey. The coaching staff put in the time to develop all of us as players and individuals and that’s something very special. We had a really tight group of guys on our team this year who I’ve built life-long friendships with.” says Paul Sohor
“On behalf of the entire Steelers organization I would like to congratulate Paul Sohor on his scholarship to York University. Paul was a rock for us this season and played in all situations and led by example. We relied on Paul to be leader on and off the ice and he did not disappoint. I know he will fit in well at the CIS level and I wish him all the best on the ice and in the classroom” says Ryan Smith, Steelers Head Coach and Director of Player Personnel.
