Former Steelers Werbowski Earns All CIS Rookie team Honours

Varsity Blues first-year defenceman, Lane Werbowski, has been named to the CIS all-rookie team as Canadian Interuniversity Sport handed out its hockey hardware on Wednesday night in Saskatoon.

The PotashCorp University Cup, presented by Co-op, gets underway Thursday at the Credit Union Centre and culminates Sunday at 5:30 p.m. Saskatchewan time with the national final, live on Sportsnet ONE.

A native of Winnipeg, Man., Werbowski had a strong rookie campaign for the Blues men’s hockey team, finishing 10th among OUA blueliners in scoring having collected 18 points on seven goals and 11 assists.

The former Selkirk Steeler is studying economics at the University of Toronto and was named a member of the OUA all-rookie team two weeks ago.
