Steelers left with a Goose Egg

Selkirk Steelers played against the Virden Oil Capital for both the Steelers (on Friday) and the Virden Oil Captials Season Home Openers (on Saturday).

Penalty problems appeared to be a factor for the Steelers in Friday’s game, as two of the goals against were allowed on the Power Play.

Although the Steelers were able to get onto the scoreboard midway through the second and again early in the third, the Oil Capitals were able to hold on to the “W” with a score of 5 – 2.

The temperament of Saturday’s game was more controlled by the Steelers, however, the Oil Captials stood strong on their defensive plays and kept the Steelers to a 4 – 1 loss.

Steelers lone goal on Saturday was by Brett Namaka ASST: Colby Jaquet, Ryan Piwniuk.

In net for both games for the Steelers was Levi Mitchell, who made 26 saves on 31 attempts on Friday and 40 saves on 44 attempts on Saturday.
